I disagree. Any air duct cleaning company who is going to come out before the appointment is going to charge a lot more than $99. while it’s true there are companies out there claiming to charge $99 and then running the bid up during the process, asking a few questions before they begin and then simply refusing to pay additional “hidden” fees, will send them running! Read and re-read the ad. does it say “per vent” or fail to mention both hot and cold air returns? If so, follow them around and make sure they clean ALL the duct work. If they don’t, don’t pay them, it’s that simple.

Will it be better if the duct cleaning contractor came out to the home/office and
inspect the area to be cleaned and from there provide a quote in writing?
This will avoid any changes in price and the service coverage will also be listed in black and white.

Thanks for the kind words Mitch. Yes, unfortunately we don’t have a contractor in Chicago yet. Why don’t you start up a $99 duct cleaning service? You won’t make a lot of money at it but it will really help your heating and cooling business. Just a thought.

I would like to comment on your duct cleaning prices. I own a heating and air conditioning service company in Chicago and we do not do duct cleaning. As absurd as it sounds I found myself searching for a company to do the cleaning in my own home. I have found your blog very informative on the subject and your prices are by far the best I’ve found.
